A Sweet Sacked Lunch

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Seriously… how cute are these? I was browsing online and found these cutesy new packaging materials. Even though they’re simple in concept, they really show off the goods. Too bad they’re so expensive! The boxes alone cost almost 3 times as much as what I pay for my boxes. Yikes!

What’s cuter than a single cupcake in a clear bag?

DOUBLE CUPCAKES!

I bought the cupcake bags with the insert and I must say, it’s not as practical as it is cute. The inner side fold of the bag kept touching the icing and ruined the cupcake. Let’s just say, it was extremely messy. Since the clear insert was 4″x4″, I was able to use it with a 4″x4″x4″ box which worked out even better :) I love these cello bags and how the bottom is nice and wide. I’m using it to package sweet potato cupcake poppers and chocolate malty poppers for a client tomorrow. Hurrah for resourcefulness! ;)

Ciao Bella!

As I was taking a relaxing stroll around super Wal-Mart (LOVE that place!), I was delighted to find that they carry CIAO BELLA GELATOS AND SORBETS in the frozen section! :) :) :) I’ve adored this brand ever since I received their cookbook as a birthday gift last year. Their recipes are easy to make and oh-so-delicious!

We have a family BBQ tomorrow and I decided not to bake anything for once but instead, browsed the frozen section at Metro. Ciao Bella Mango Sorbet was 50% off! :) $3! They also have lemon sorbet but I’m not a fan of lemon so much.

Check out these flavours – Strawberry Chardonnay! WHAOW!!

I visited CB’s website for the first time tonight and fell in love with the colourful packaging. To me, bright colours evoke yumminess and I was practically drooling! Some of the flavours I want to try are: banana mango, key lime graham, passion fruit, coconut, blood orange, malted milk ball, chocolate s’mores and blackberry cabernet. Okay, let’s just say–all of them! I like sorbets more than gelatos though so maybe someone else can try the gelato and let me know how they like it! ;)

I’m going to drop by Whole Foods this week to check their flavours. My birthday’s on TUESDAY and we’re going to Guu Izakaya to celebrate… woohoo! Then I’m going to go to Pusateri’s to see if they have my favourite Mata Hari dessert (vanilla cake with coconut, mango and papaya mousse)… this is going to be a busy birthday week! :)

Floral Spring Packaging

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

I bought these cute flower embellishments a while ago and have been meaning to use it somehow – and I got to on Wednesday! :) These pretty flowers accented the cutesy donut cupcake boxes and splashed some springtime on each one.

I’m always on the lookout for new packaging ideas. I constantly browse magazines in search of new design ideas (and save a picture of it in my phone!). I love simplicity and versatility – that’s why (most of) my boxes are transparent because I can use as much or as little accessories to dress it up or down. I can tie a bow on top or include a tag to make it more personal or wrap a bright colour ribbon along with a simple embellishment. The best thing about simple packaging is that it doesn’t cost that much–it’s pleasing to the eye AND the wallet! ;)

Modern Packaging

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

I love clean & simple packaging with bright colours.  I bought these boxes a few years ago but didn’t have the heart to use them (aka give them away)… until today.  I finished the design with contrasting colours to match the snowflake embellishment because the original ribbon colours were quite BLAH.  Since these two packages went to the same recipient, the colour combinations worked out perfectly :)

     I CAN BREATHE AGAIN! :)
All my big orders are done for 2010…. *gleee!!*… so all I have are small-to-medium-sized orders left… lots of them.  But the big ones are done so I’m pretty relieved.  I can start wrapping my gifts and shop for myself… and wrap the gifts I get for myself! :)

Here are some customized packaging I did for a few clients this year.
These goodies were given out to co-workers both in a corporate setting.  I love packaging! :)
